David Ewing elected new Hon. Secretary of WGMA

David Ewing from City of York Hockey Club in the North of England has been elected Hon Secretary by WGMA members, to succeed Adrian Stephenson who stood down at the Congress in Australia after eight years in the job.

David has been the North of England representative on the committee of England’s LX Club for several years and was the first chairman of selectors for England’s new Over 75 team in 2013-14. He has played in LX Red teams at all WGMA events since 2010 when his team won gold in the Tournament Trophy in Cape Town. He has captained LX Red at both 60+ and 65+ but was unable to be in Australia after injuring his leg in a serious fall at the end of last year. He is however aiming to be fit enough play in the Grand Masters Hockey European Cup in Glasgow next year and will be heavily involved in liaising with Scotland’s organising committee on the preparations for that event.

'I am pleased to be handing over to such an experienced administrator and am confident that David will make a significant contribution to the future of WGMA and Grand Masters hockey,’ says Adrian Stephenson, who will continue on the Board for another two years as a Consultant Director.

'I am very happy to welcome David to the Board and I look forward to working closely with him as WGMA continues to grow,’ Wim van Noortwijk, President, WGMA
